Throughout the year of 2012, eleven high school students from Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich, Connecticut, worked diligently to publish a children’s book entitled A Paw and A Flipper. As a club, named Publishing Hearts, we collaboratively wrote and illustrated 38 pages of a beautiful work, intended for young readers between the ages of two and seven. Profits from the sale of our book are donated to a national children's literacy organization called Reach Out and Read. Publishing Hearts is centered on the ancient proverb, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." We believe that investing in our children's book is investing in children's knowledge and reading skills, and investing in that knowledge is investing in the future of our world.
